The Butter Flowers of Tar Monastery are well-known across the world. They are shaped in different images with butter mixed with adequate mineral colors expressing the Buddhism stories and historical sages. The butter are abstracted from highland Yakmilk. The Butter Flowers ,from King Kong as large as 2 meters in length to flowers, birds, insects and fishes as small as 3 centimeters in size, each of them is delicate and vivid. A group of Butter Flowers always consists of hundreds of people and animal images together with a dozen of pavilions. They are not limited by time and space, linking ingeniously different plots together. The multidimensional sculptural scroll brings audience to real scene.

The author has studied this phenomenon for about ten years with intensive research and a lot of photographs. The fruit of his research is demonstrated authentically and vividly in this book which consists of six chapters: “Introduction”, “Historical Origin”, “Processing”, “Artistic Features”, “Appreciation” and “Artistic Monks”.
